About Us

Mona Flying Club

Mona Flying Club is the trading name of Mona Aviation Limited and was formed in 1975 on the island of Anglesey in North Wales. The club is run and operated by volunteers (including our flying instructors) and Committee members are also Directors of Mona Aviation Ltd. We are a Declared Training Organisation (DTO) with the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA). We offer membership, flying lessons, trial flying lessons, aircraft hire, hangarage and an opportunity to visit. We lease the airfield at RAF Mona from the Ministry of Defence and operate primarily at the weekends. We are a small, friendly club and do our best to accommodate all requests. We aim to make a small profit to help invest in our facilities and offerings but we are more concerned about making sure our members, guests and visitors enjoy their time with us. Mona Aviation Ltd is a company registered in England & Wales with Company Number 1196277.

Our Facilities

The club comprises a clubhouse and hangar and we love to welcome members, students and visitors alike! RAF Mona is an active airfield during the week and is regularly patrolled by MOD Security personnel. CCTV operates for the purposes of safety and crime prevention. Mona Aviation Ltd operates the system and queries can be directed to us via the Contact Us page.

RAF Valley

We operate from RAF Mona during the weekends. RAF Mona is operated under the auspices of RAF Valley by the RAF. You can find out more and contact RAF Valley through the following link:

Our Environmental Impact

We are acutely aware of aviation’s impact on the environment and we are constantly looking to minimise that impact. Specifically we:

  • Have recently completely reclad and re insulated our clubhouse to reduce heating requirements,
  • Have recently begun recycling to reduce production of waste,
  • Begun to fit energy efficient lamps in our hangar to reduce electricity use,
  • Purchase our electricity from an energy company which predominantly generates power using emissions free nuclear and renewable energy,
  • Have installed a charging point for electric vehicles,
  • Offset all carbon dioxide emissions from our trial lessons and flying lessons through partners Climate Care.
